Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Missions Are Way Too Hard

The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with several of the title's hardest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun turning to custom matches set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.

Comprehending Battlefield 6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four types of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of getting twelve from the forty-one key firearms present in the game.

Several of these locked weapons may soon make their appearance on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash via Reddit

On Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and is effective only at very short distances, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

Another Reddit user highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns

This is difficult enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and maybe Operation Firestorm at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for completing them in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer gaming experience in coming revisions.
